With God’s help,
I will listen respectfully and carefully to others.
I will seek to recognize the Holy Spirit’s presence here.
I will remember that I must speak only for myself.
I will maintain confidentiality.
I will keep an open mind and heart.
I will share responsibility for this sacred process.
I will keep in mind God’s people whom we are serving. Amen.
Benediction
"God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause His face to shine upon us; That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations." Psalm 67:1-2 NIV
2025 -2027 Theme
For A Time Such as This, God's Love Breaks Through
“For a Time Such as This, God’s Love Breaks Through” was chosen at the Board
meeting in July 2025 as the theme for the next two years. As we discussed this theme,
we reflected on the uncertainty in our country and in our world. We turned to the books
of Esther and Ecclesiastes for guidance and inspiration.
In the story of Esther, we focus not on a royal love story, but on God’s steadfast love
and faithful purpose. Esther was placed in a unique position “for such a time as this”
(Esther 4:14). God had given her influence, resources, and opportunity, and he called
her to use those gifts to protect and serve others. The same is true for each of us. God
has entrusted us with abilities, experiences, relationships, and resources. He has
placed us exactly where we are—not by accident, but with purpose. We are not here
merely for our own comfort or personal pursuits. We are here because God is at work in
the world, and he invites us to join him.
We live in a time when the battle between good and evil is evident all around us. It can
be tempting to focus only on our own concerns, but Esther’s story reminds us that God
calls us to step forward in faith and courage. When Esther responded to Mordecai’s
challenge, an entire nation was spared.
How many lives may be touched when we answer God’s call today? How many hearts
may be encouraged, how many burdens lifted, and how many souls strengthened when
we choose to serve, even when it requires sacrifice? The book of Ecclesiastes reminds
us that “for everything there is a season” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Whether we are
experiencing joy or sorrow, growth or rest, God is present and working through every
season of life.
This theme assures us that, for such a time as this, God’s love breaks through—through
our acts of kindness, our words of hope, our prayers, and our willingness to serve. May
we trust that God has placed us here for a purpose and that his love will shine through
us into the world.

Who We Are as a Community
We are the North Carolina Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We provide support, events and services for congregations that meet in some 200 ELCA congregations across North Carolina.
Grow in Faith
We grow in faith by prayer ministry. One of our most powerful ministries is PRAYER. Every Monday a prayer list is emailed to our faithful women. At noon they stop and pray for those listed.
Use the contact form below to send us your prayer request.
